Dr. Deepak Ayyagari currently serves as Principal Scientist at Sharp Laboratories of America where he leads the Personal Healthcare Technologies project. This project is focused on the research and development of innovative technologies and product concepts for consumer oriented in-home and personal healthcare and wellness applications. Dr. Ayyagari represents Sharp Corporation as a founding member of the Board of Director of the Continua Health Alliance. He is also the Secretary of the Corporation and the Editor in chief of its newsletter.

 His experience includes technical leadership positions in R&D and advanced product development. In prior assignments, he led Sharp’s Powerline Communications project, designing high speed PLC systems for AV communications in networked homes, and served on the Board of Directors of  the HomePlug industry consortium. He was a research scientist developing broadband cellular data services (CDPD, IS 95, CDMA 2000 etc.) and wireless LAN technologies for GTE/Verizon. He was also the lead architect and designer for carrier class, residential broadband, fixed wireless access systems, akin to WiMax,  for Broadband Access Systems/ ADC Telecom. He was the founder and CEO of Moksha Networks, a seed stage startup developing technology that integrated WLAN and cellular data technologies.

  Dr. Ayyagari received his PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Ayyagari has over 17 publications in major peer-reviewed international journals and conferences, 4 issued patents and over 15 pending filings, and has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences.
