Eric Thelen

Philips
As CTO of Philips Home Healthcare Solutions, Eric Thelen is
responsible for technology strategy as well as for product and service
development. Philips Home Healthcare Solutions is part of the Healthcare
Sector of Philips and focuses on supporting independent living for
seniors and the chronically ill by providing telehealth solutions,
remote patient monitoring services, personal emergency response services
and cardiac monitoring services.
Eric Thelen joined Philips in 1994 as a scientist within the
Man-Machine Interfaces research department at the research laboratories
in Aachen, Germany, after earning an electrical engineering degree from
the Technical University of Aachen. Eric held a number of leadership
roles within Philips Research in both the U.S. and the Netherlands,
participating in the development of speech-enabled mobile phone services
and heading a medical signal processing team.
In October 2005, Eric became Sector Head of Philips Research for
Digital Care Solutions, with departments in Eindhoven (The Netherlands),
Aachen (Germany) and Bangalore (India). Eric also managed the research
focal area e-Health with the research domains Healthcare IT and
Interactive Healthcare. Eric moved into his current role at Philips Home
Healthcare Solutions in September 2007. He is currently based in
Framingham, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
