Youngsoo Kim

Youngsoo Kim is Vice President of Corporate Strategy Planning Team of
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. a position he has held since January,
2004. In this function he is responsible for the areas of strategic
alliance, mergers and acquisitions as well as new business development.
Prior to current position, he was Vice President and Chief Operating
Officer of Samsung Corning Micro-optics, Inc. which was a joint venture
company between Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Corning, Inc. for
optical component business.
From 1996 to 2001, he was General Manager, Corporate Planning,
Information & Telecommunications Business in Samsung Electronics. He
led a corporate planning group responsible for long-term strategy
planning, mergers and acquisitions and alliance and partnership.
From 1993 to 1996, he served as General Manager, Corporate Planning of
Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, Kiheung, Korea. He led a
corporate planning team for central research and development
organization for Samsung Group.
Youngsoo Kim, who joined Samsung in 1984, served in Computer Systems
Division. He also served as Director of Administration and Operations at
Samsung Software America, which was a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. for research and development of systems
software.
He is a graduate of the University of Hartford where he received MA in
Economics and BS in Economics and Finance.
