- Issued eleventh bi-monthly public newsletter to more than 12,000 recipients
- Working on programs to help better evangelize the Continua message

Global Policy Strategy Work Group
The US Policy Group
- Continually engaging policy-makers, helped introduce "e-care" into the legislative vernacular
- Coordinated and sponsored a number of legislative meetings
The EU Policy Group
- Secured a significant role in the Smart Personal Health and Renewing Health grant provided by the EU Commission
- Ongoing planning and implementation of a number of events and educational sessions around Smart Personal Health
Technical Work Group
- Continually refining end-to-end architecture (PAN, LAN, WAN, HRN, etc.)
- V1.0 refinement and bug resolution
- Refining WAN interface and the errata process
Use Case Work Group
- Completion of v2
- Ongoing investigation on linking v2 progress to wider Continua work
- Focusing on removing the barriers and easing adoption of Continua technology
Wellness Solutions Work Group
- Creating and implementing a membership survey to better understand the barriers and opportunities relative to adoption of connected health technology
Regulatory Work Group
- Hosted a joint workshop with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration this winter
- Continue to host FDA and regulatory educational sessions at member summits that draw standing-room only crowds
Test & Certification Work Group
- Completed first iteration of both the v1.5 test tool and Continua Enabling Source Code Library
- Refining the growing certification program, allowing more members to bring their certified products to market
- Recently held Continua's eighth Plugfest during the winter summit
- Continually testing a wide variety of products from Continua member companies

Continua Members and Associates,
June marks Continua's four-year anniversary. While four years is a relatively short period of time, the list of our accomplishments during this time is anything but. This issue denotes the first of many executive columns that will provide Continua members with a regular update of Continua Health Alliance's activities and accomplishments.
I would like to use this opportunity to thank all of you for your participation in Continua. The Alliance has quickly established itself as the premier organization driving the personal connected health space and is now delivering on its promise for interoperability and platform standardization. This could not have happened without numerous Work Group participants and the hard work of all of our member volunteers.
As we have seen during the last four years, this isn't easy work, but so much can be accomplished when we take a deliberate approach like we have within the Continua Work Groups. More than 2,000 volunteers have participated in research, development, publication, testing, promotion, policy, regulation, and much more. You all deserve a round of applause.
In June 2006, Continua Health Alliance launched with 22 member companies, 100 individual participants, and 3 Work Groups. Today, the Alliance is proud to call nearly 240 companies around the world members. There are now more than 2,000 individual participants, 9 Work Groups, and a dozen Sub Teams. To say we have succeeded in growing our organization is an understatement...(continued below)

Accomplishments: Past & Present

Some of Continua's key accomplishments during the past four years:
- Development and completion of the Continua v1.0 Design Guidelines (free to members and available for purchase to the public)
- Growing the membership to nearly 240 (and counting!)
- Development of the Continua Certification and Logo Program
- Release of the first Continua CertifiedTM products
Some of Continua's key accomplishments during the past year:
- Completely automated testing program with downloadable test tools
- The addition of nearly another $1 million worth of free reference source code
- Completion of v1.5 Design Guidelines for balloting - including WAN (completing our end-to-end architecture)
- Active projects with the European Commission (including funding from the Commission)
- Active engagement with the Japanese government regarding metabolic syndrome
- Placement and direct engagement with US Federal legislation
- Direct and in-person engagement with the FDA regarding processes for regulation
- Partnered with several key industry liaisons, enhancing the connected personal health space.
- Inclusion of Continua specs in RFPs, such as the Veterans Administration
And, we have many more initiatives planned for the remainder of 2010 and beyond:
- An industry roll-out of v1.5 Design Guidelines
- Mobile versions of the CESL program
- Further deployment of our low power radio selections
- Wider focus on market adoption and wellness programs
- Additional matchmaking opportunities and showcasing Certified Products via the Continua website
- Further program and demonstration roll-outs

There is not enough space to list all of our accomplishments, but each and every one of our members has been integral to Continua's growth and development. The active members who strive to help us fulfill our mission statement, to enable an eco-system of personal connected healthcare devices, have been and continue to be the key to our success. And our current members as well as Continua associates who we hope will become active members this year, will be vital to Continua's future.
As we have seen, creating the eco-system is much more than just product certification; we will continue to engage strategic programs, policy, regulation, and reimbursement to further reach and permeate our key markets.
