The Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics annually holds educational sessions, technology demonstrations and field visits. These events focus on a wide variety of groups developing legislative priorities and awareness of telehealth. This session is expected to attract more than 350 people from Congressional offices, federal agencies, the Department of Defense and Veterans Administration.

The Continua Health Alliance will have a series of tables at the event and its membership will demonstrate their technologies and help educate a key group of decision-makers!

Organized by the Telemed and eHealth Forum of the Royal Society of Medicine, this half-day workshop will support healthcare commissioners, public and private service developers, physicians and other healthcare providers as well as telehealth equipment vendors in developing successful business cases for sustainable telehealth services, and in better understanding the requirements and constrains of other actors involved in the healthcare value system.

Medical Devices Information Day

The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) is holding a Medical Devices Information Day on the recent revisions to the Medical Devices Directive (MDD 2007/47/EC), concentrating on the extra regulatory demands on Notified Bodies and Manufacturers.

Manufacturers need strong partnerships with a Notified Body that has the expertise and is adaptive, resourceful, responsive and capable of facilitating timely CE Mark approvals. NSAI has this ability and fully embraces current regulatory challenges to expand Ireland's competitive edge.

The Information Day provides an opportunity to highlight the 'public good' and national importance of NSAI working closely with the medical device industry, the IMDA, IDA, Enterprise Ireland, IMB and medical professionals.

European Connected Health Expo Day

During Continua's Winter Summit in Dublin, the Northern Ireland government announced the establishment of the European Centre for Connected Health. Also announced by the government was the allocation of $96 million to help bring 5,000 people suffering from chronic disease in Northern Ireland to a remote monitoring service by 2011.

To help the procurement process and support its membership, the European Center for Connected Health & Continua hosted European Connected Health Expo Day 2008. This unique tradeshow allowed Continua member companies to showcase their products for Northern Ireland government officials, healthcare professionals and the leadership of the European Centre for Connected Health!

This event was specifically marketed to individuals responsible for the procurement of health care and remote patient monitoring systems. It was an unparalleled opportunity to impress not only Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland delegates with member companies' products, but the equivalent leadership from all of Europe.

Continua Personal Telehealth Matchmaking Event

The Continua Health Alliance held a Personal Telehealth Matchmaking session at ATA 2008 this year! Continua launched an online web service to help health care service providers distribute personal telehealth project requests (RFPs) to the Continua vendor community. This session described the new service and also gave the stage to some service provider companies who made brief presentations outlining their RFP details and goals. Vendor companies now have the chance to network with these service providers one on one to exchange information and ideas.
